Web Developer

We’re looking for a talented Web Developer to join our growing UK Digital Experience Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to become the second full-time developer within our UK team, working alongside @alextonkins, our Senior Web Developer and wider Digital Experience specialists to build exceptional websites for clients across a variety of sectors.

Job Description

As part of a small, highly collaborative team, you’ll have the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from technical discovery and development through to deployment, optimisation and continuous improvement. You’ll take ownership of meaningful development work from day one, whilst receiving ongoing mentoring and support to help you continue to grow your career.

  • Develop bespoke WordPress websites using modern development practices.
  • Build custom Gutenberg blocks, themes and reusable components.
  • Maintain and improve existing client websites.
  • Develop integrations with APIs and third-party platforms where required.
  • Build websites that are fast, accessible, secure and scalable.
  • Contribute to Core Web Vitals, Technical SEO and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) best practices.
  • Support HubSpot CMS development where applicable. Experience with HubL is desirable but not essential.
  • Deliver high quality development work from implementation through to deployment.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and senior developers to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.
  • Assist with technical estimation, planning and problem solving.
  • Support ongoing maintenance, optimisation and continuous improvement across client websites.
  • Work closely with designers, SEO specialists, Client Services and external partners.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing and technical knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute ideas that improve our development standards, tooling and ways of working.
  • Occasionally support client meetings with technical guidance where appropriate.
  • Follow agency coding standards and secure development best practices.
  • Build websites that meet accessibility (WCAG) and performance standards.
  • Support the implementation of structured data and modern search best practices.
  • Contribute towards maintaining secure, reliable and high quality digital experiences.

You’ll regularly work with the following technologies so it’s essential that you must have experience with:

  • At least 2 years commercial WordPress development experience
  • Strong PHP, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3 skills
  • Experience with custom Gutenberg blocks and themes
  • Experience using Git in a collaborative environment
  • Good understanding of responsive web development
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork
  • A willingness to learn and embrace new technologies, including AI-assisted development
  • Tailwind CSS or another modern CSS framework (SASS / LESS etc)
  • ACF, Composer and WP-CLI
  • GitHub & GitHub Actions
  • REST API integrations
  • Azure or AWS exposure
  • Technical SEO, Core Web Vitals and Schema.org (know how to validate markup)
  • HubSpot, HubL or HubDB experience
  • Experience working within a digital agency
